On January 23, 2018 RE-CORD (the Renewable Energy Consortium for Research and Demonstration), one of the Italian partners of the BECOOL project, opened the doors of its laboratories to the citizens for the official opening ceremony.
The event, held in Pianvallico, Scarperia e San Piero (north of Florence, Italy), was organized by RE-CORD in order to show both its laboratories for the chemical-physical analysis (active since 2011) and the new experimental area hosting a series of innovative tools, small and large machineries for biomass and bio-products research. Both the areas represent an excellent facility for carry on research and innovation within the bio-economy sector and this is already demonstrated by the first results obtained within the BECOOL project.
At the ceremony, interventions of local policy makers and public authorities alternated, before giving the floor to prof. Luigi Dei, the Magnificent Rector of the University of Florence and the RE-CORD Director, prof. David Chiaramonti. Ms Marianna Madia, the Italian Ministry for Simplification and Public Administration, delivered a speech supporting the efforts made till now by public and private entities for realizing basic and applied Research and Innovation hubs on novel areas such as bioenergy (contributing to lignocellulosic advanced biofuels), capable of attracting young researchers.
RE-CORD team was happy to show to the Ministry the BECOOL project, its objectives and first results. They exchanged information about the relevance of having Italian actors involved in the sustainable development sector while creating growth in terms of market opportunities and jobs.
On behalf of the BECOOL project also representatives of UNIBO and ETA-Florence took part to the opening.
